British boxing giants Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury are finally set to collide in a long-awaited heavyweight showdown later this year, ending years of speculation over one of the sport’s biggest potential fights.

Joshua will first make his ring return against Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga in Riyadh on July 25 before stepping into the blockbuster clash with Fury.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, confirmed the news on social media, declaring: “Signed, sealed and delivered! AJ vs Fury is on!”

He described the bout as the biggest deal of his career, adding that it is the fight they have “always wanted,” while also hinting that 2026 will be a defining year for Joshua’s comeback.

Although an official date and venue are yet to be confirmed, reports suggest November is being targeted, with strong expectations the fight will be staged in a major stadium and streamed globally on Netflix.

Ring Magazine has also described the showdown as a “done deal,” indicating it will take place in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Joshua, 36, and Fury, 37, have long been linked in one of boxing’s most anticipated matchups, with failed negotiations over the years preventing them from meeting in their prime. Fury has previously branded the clash “The Battle of Britain.”

Both fighters have followed dominant but contrasting careers—Fury becoming world champion after defeating Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, while Joshua rose to prominence after winning Olympic gold in 2012 and capturing world titles in 2016.

At different points, both held world championships simultaneously, but repeated attempts to unify the heavyweight division collapsed as their careers diverged, with defeats and rival fights reshaping the division.

Fury recently returned to boxing after another retirement, while Joshua is rebuilding momentum following injury setbacks and a road accident in Nigeria that affected members of his team.

Joshua is currently back in training and has even been working alongside former rival Oleksandr Usyk, who has reportedly backed him to defeat Fury.

The stage is now set for one of the biggest heavyweight fights in British boxing history.
