Accra-Kumasi Expressway: First Tranche Of Compensation Paid To 469 Farmers – GAF
GAF says 469 farmers have received the first tranche of compensation following the clearing of 175.6 kilometres of the Accra-Kumasi Expressway right-of-way.

- Payments ranged from GH¢1,500 to GH¢350,000.
- About 800 farmers are expected to be compensated.
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) says the first tranche of compensation has been paid to 469 farmers affected by the Accra-Kumasi Expressway project.
GAF cleared approximately 175.6 kilometres of the project’s right-of-way, covering agricultural lands and forest areas across the Greater Accra, Eastern and Ashanti Regions.
Speaking at the handover ceremony of the cleared right-of-way to President John Dramani Mahama, GAF Director of Engineering Services, Brigadier General Jonas Wiafe, said compensation payments had been made to more than half of the affected farmers.
He said the farmers received between GH¢1,500 and GH¢350,000, depending on the valuation of properties affected during the clearing exercise.
Brigadier General Wiafe said about 800 affected farmers are expected to receive compensation by the end of the disbursement process.
He also disclosed that no physical structures, including completed or uncompleted mud houses and sandcrete buildings, were destroyed during the clearing operation.
He assured farmers who are yet to receive their payments that the process is ongoing and that funds are available to settle all outstanding compensation.
Government is expected to break ground for construction of the expressway by the end of the year, with local funding secured for the project.
