The Chief of Essuowin, Nana Akyena Kwagyan Nuama V, has officially cut the sod for the construction of an ultra-modern senior high school in the community.

The project is aimed at improving access to quality education for residents, particularly students who are unable to gain admission to some of the country’s top senior high schools.
The ceremony attracted a number of dignitaries, including traditional leaders, education and district directors, as well as other key stakeholders.
Speaking at the ceremony held on Friday, April 17, 2026, Nana Akyena Kwagyan Nuama V emphasized that the initiative seeks to provide opportunities for students who miss out on attending SHS due to the lack of schools in the Amansie West District.

“We want to create a school that gives our children the same quality and opportunities as those in the big-name schools,” he said.
He added that the project also aligns with government efforts to improve the country’s educational system.
“This is our contribution to national development through education,” Nana Akyena Kwagyan Nuama V noted.
Donation to the Project
The renowned chief has already donated GH¢500,000 and 10,000 concrete blocks for the construction.
He also released a 25-acre parcel of land for the school project.
“The land and these materials are my seed contribution. I will not stop until we see classrooms here,” he stated.
He pledged his continuous support to ensure the project is a success.
“I will be with this project from start to finish. Education is the future of Essuowin,” he added.
Call for Support
During the sod-cutting ceremony, Nana Akyena Kwagyan Nuama V appealed to the government and other stakeholders to support the project.
He noted that the community’s efforts alone are not enough, adding that stakeholder support is key to the success of this all-important project.
“We have started, but we cannot do it alone. We need government, NGOs, and everyone to come on board,” he appealed.
Appreciation
Chairman of the Steering Committee, Mr. Kwame Owusu Nuako, revealed that all necessary drawings and documentation for the project have been completed.
“We are ready to build. The plans are approved, and we are set,” he said.
He expressed appreciation to stakeholders, including miners, government officials, traditional authorities, and individuals who have contributed to the project so far.
“To all who have supported us already, we say thank you,” Mr. Nuako stated.
He further called on others to support the initiative to ensure its successful completion.
“Let’s all put our hands to this. Together, we can deliver this school for our children,” he added.
