Assin Fosu Kidnapping: Court Remands Four Suspects for Eight Days
The four suspects are facing six provisional charges over the alleged kidnapping and torture of 30-year-old Bismark Amo.

The Assin Fosu District Court has remanded four suspects arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping of 30-year-old Bismark Amo into police custody for eight days.
The court, presided over by His Worship Abdul Majid Illiasu, heard six provisional charges against the suspects, including conspiracy to commit crime, kidnapping, threat of harm, non-consensual sharing of an intimate image, causing harm and stealing.
The suspects are Mavis Badu Acheampong, 42, a teacher at Kumasi Girls Senior High School; Charles Doku, 53, a security guard; Oteng Baffour, 31, an electrician; and Kenneth Opoku Kwarteng, alias Culture, whose age has not been confirmed. All four are residents of Breman UGC, while Mavis Badu and Kenneth Opoku Kwarteng are teachers at Kumasi Girls Senior High School.
According to the prosecution, the suspects allegedly held Bismark Amo hostage for nearly a week and subjected him to severe torture while demanding GH¢45,000 from his family.
The prosecution, led by ASP Wonder Lumor, said the suspects claimed the victim had defrauded Mavis Badu of the same amount.
Police are also pursuing a fifth suspect, a senior military officer who is alleged to have orchestrated the kidnapping and is currently outside Ghana.
The four suspects are expected to reappear before the court on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
The court has also directed Mavis Badu to lodge an official complaint with the police over the alleged fraud.
