Court Denies Bail to Six in GH¢14 Million Gold Robbery Case
Accused remanded as trial continues over alleged armed attack on gold and cash transport

An Accra Circuit Court has denied bail to six individuals accused of involvement in a robbery case involving 12.5 kilogrammes of gold valued at GH¢14,387,096, along with an additional GH¢400,000 in cash.
The accused persons are facing charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery. All six have pleaded not guilty.
Presiding judge, Dennis Eyram Benson, rejected oral bail applications made by defence lawyers, leading to the remand of the suspects into lawful custody.
The case has been adjourned to April 27, 2026, when the accused are expected to reappear in court.
The accused persons include Salim Muhammed, also known as Fariwata; Alhassan Illiasu, alias Arab Man; Hamza Agerego, also known as Lambert or Nene Bowku; Abdul Samed Bonsiabu Larry, also known as Touch; Fatao Ibrahim, also called Motorway; and Abubarkar Sadique, known as Fifty Cents.
A seventh suspect, Baba Chika, also known as Oil Money, is currently on the run and being sought by police.
According to prosecutors, the suspects allegedly carried out the robbery in November 2024 while a large amount of gold and cash was being transported from a jewellery shop to a bank.
The prosecution further told the court that the gang used a Toyota Highlander with registration number GN 7357-19 during the operation and fired gunshots into the air to scare victims during the attack.
One person who was in the vehicle transporting the valuables was reportedly shot in the left leg during the incident.
