Mahama Assures Upper West Of Early Construction Of New Wa Airport

President John Dramani Mahama has assured residents of the Upper West Region that construction of a new airport in Wa will commence soon.
The President gave the assurance after inspecting the proposed site for the project, which is expected to provide the region with a modern aviation facility.
President Mahama said the existing Wa Airport was originally developed as an airstrip and no longer meets the demands of modern aviation, making a new airport necessary.
He disclosed that the Ghana Airports Company has secured funding for the project, eliminating the need for government to seek additional financing at this stage.
According to him, the procurement process has also been completed and contractors selected, clearing the way for construction to begin.
The President said the new airport forms part of government’s broader efforts to expand domestic air transport and improve aviation infrastructure across the country.
