‘Help Me Walk Again, I Want To Go Back To School’ – 12-Year-Old Ofankor-Pokuase Crash Survivor Appeals For Help

Twelve-year-old Angelina Stickings, who lost both legs and her father in the deadly Ofankor-Pokuase road crash, is appealing for support to help her recover, regain mobility and return to school.
Angelina is currently receiving treatment at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital after the August 13, 2026 crash, which claimed 12 lives and left several others injured.
The crash involved multiple vehicles and was reportedly triggered after a tricycle rider was knocked down, resulting in a chain collision.
Angelina survived but suffered life-changing injuries and lost both legs. Her family has also kept her father’s death from her as she continues her recovery. The tragedy came just six months after the death of her mother.
Before the accident, Angelina was focused on her education and dreams for the future. She now hopes to recover and return to school.
Her brother, John Stickings, said the family has been overwhelmed by the cost of her treatment and is seeking support to secure prosthetic limbs to help her walk again.
He appealed to the government, NGOs, philanthropists and other well-meaning individuals to support Angelina’s recovery and rehabilitation.
Meanwhile, the National Road Safety Authority says police investigations into the crash are ongoing. The driver of the tipper truck believed to have caused the crash reportedly fled the scene but has since been arrested and is assisting with investigations.
