Nearly 500 people have been displaced after heavy and intermittent rains triggered widespread flooding in parts of the Volta Region, submerging homes, destroying farms and cutting off traffic on the Ho–Denu Highway.
The flooding, caused by the overflowing Tordze River, submerged the Kpetoe Bridge, bringing vehicular movement along the Ho–Denu Highway to a complete standstill as of the early hours of Tuesday, June 30.
Several houses were inundated, while extensive damage was reported to farms and livestock, leaving many residents counting their losses.

The Agotime Ziope District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Courage Agba, said that although the floods caused significant destruction, no fatalities had been recorded.
According to him, the worst-hit communities include Agorve, Aborme, Asito, Afetor Yesu Kope, Unity Club and nearby Kpekuita.
A rescue team from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has been deployed to the affected areas to assist displaced residents and support ongoing emergency response efforts.
The floods have also disrupted economic activities in Kpetoe, with businesses forced to suspend operations as floodwaters continue to affect movement and livelihoods.
Authorities are monitoring the situation while relief efforts continue for affected households.
