Accra, August 20, 2026 — The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued an immediate release regarding a disturbing incident involving an alleged sexual assault at Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School.

The management of GES confirmed that they have received reports of an alleged sexual assault involving a student, which has prompted swift action from authorities.

According to the statement, the incident was brought to light by two watchmen of the school, who reported the matter following suspicions of misconduct. The student involved is identified as a special needs student currently on medication, and it was reported that she experienced a relapse and required medical attention on the day of the incident.

In response to the allegations, the GES management promptly arrested the two watchmen and handed them over to the police for further investigation. The school authorities have also interdicted the staff members involved, effective immediately, to ensure an impartial inquiry.

The Ghana Education Service has assured the public that thorough investigations are ongoing, with the outcome expected to guide appropriate sanctions in accordance with the GES Code of Conduct and Ghanaian laws. The management emphasized that they are committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and dignity for all students.

Furthermore, GES has cautioned all staff to maintain professionalism and to prioritize the safety and well-being of students.
