The Ghana Football Association (GFA), in consultation with key stakeholders, has officially appointed Carlos Queiroz as the new head coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars.

The experienced Portuguese manager takes charge as Ghana prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted across Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

Queiroz brings a wealth of international experience, having managed top teams including Real Madrid, Manchester United, the Portugal national team, and Iran. His World Cup résumé is particularly impressive—he guided South Africa to qualify for the 2002 tournament, led Portugal to the knockout stage in 2010, and managed Iran at both the 2014 and 2018 editions.

Beyond these roles, he has also coached national teams such as Egypt, Oman, Japan, and Qatar, earning a reputation as a seasoned tournament strategist.

Queiroz is expected to immediately begin preparations with the Black Stars ahead of the global showpiece, which kicks off on June 11, 2026.

Ghana will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, before facing tough group-stage opponents England and Croatia
