Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko says the club’s ultimate ambition is to win the 2026/27 CAF Champions League after securing the Ghana Premier League title last season.
The Yellow and Mauve will represent Ghana in Africa’s premier club competition after emerging as champions of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.
However, Medeama face a difficult test in the preliminary stage, having been drawn against five-time African champions TP Mazembe of DR Congo.
Despite the challenging fixture, Tanko says Medeama are determined to compete for the trophy rather than simply make up the numbers.
“We are going there as one of the teams to compete, and so winning the CAF Champions League is our objective,” Tanko said in an interview.
Medeama will host TP Mazembe in the first leg at the TNA Park on September 5, with the return leg scheduled for DR Congo on September 13. Both matches will kick off at 15:00 GMT.
Tanko, a former Black Stars assistant coach, will be hoping to lead the Ghanaian champions past Mazembe and further into the competition as they seek continental glory.
