Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong’s campaign team has reaffirmed his full participation in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer race, dismissing reports that he has been disqualified over the controversial GH₵4 million development fee.

According to the campaign’s Communications Director, Paul Abdul Rahman Issah Dowuona, the matter is being handled internally within the party’s structures and does not merit public debate.

Speaking in an interview on Thursday, October 9, 2025, Mr. Dowuona clarified that Mr. Agyepong remains committed to the contest and continues to engage constructively with party officials.

“The GH₵4 million issue is being addressed internally. As far as there’s no official statement from the party disqualifying him, he remains in the race,” Mr. Dowuona stated.

He stressed that while Mr. Agyepong has always opposed making the development fee a prerequisite for contesting, he is open to contributing significantly to the party’s growth in other ways.

“At his vetting, he made his position clear — he supports the party’s development but believes the fee shouldn’t be a condition for contesting the flagbearership,” he explained.

Mr. Dowuona added that the campaign team is fully prepared for the balloting exercise scheduled for Friday, October 10, 2025, emphasizing their confidence and readiness.

“Take it from me — we are still in the race. Tomorrow, God willing, we’ll go for our balloting,” he confirmed.

Meanwhile, internal party reports indicate that the vetting committee has submitted its findings to the National Council and the National Executive Committee, noting that Mr. Agyepong has not yet met the fee requirement.

However, his team has dismissed social media claims suggesting that he has been disqualified from the upcoming primaries.
