The Free Senior High School Secretariat has denied allegations of bribery at the Placement Resolution Centre at the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI).

The denial follows claims that some individuals at the centre were allegedly demanding money from parents before attending to their school placement concerns.

However, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Coordinator of the Free SHS Secretariat, Michael Owusu Baafi, has dismissed the allegations, stressing that the entire placement resolution process is free of charge.

He cautioned parents and students against giving money to anyone who claims to have the ability to secure school placements or resolve issues under the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

“We don’t take money here. If you give any money to anybody, it’s at your own peril. We are admitting students for free,” he said.

Mr Baafi explained that although parents may print placement forms and other documents outside the centre, such services are not compulsory and officials at the resolution tables do not charge any fees.

According to him, officials at the centre sometimes go beyond their official duties by using their own resources and data to contact schools and facilitate direct placements for students.

He added that some officials even spend their personal money to print and forward placement sheets to schools to facilitate the process, without demanding payment from parents.
