Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Justice Blay has stirred controversy with shocking claims that teammate Kwame Opoku snatched his girlfriend — who he refers to as a “sugar mummy” — during their time at the club.

Blay, who made a strong impact after joining the Porcupine Warriors in the 2019/20 season, saw his relationship with the club sour following a disappointing 2024/25 campaign. While many attributed his departure to disciplinary issues and reduced playing time under coaches Prosper Narteh Ogum and Karim Zito, Blay now points to personal betrayal as a key reason.

In an emotional interview, the 30-year-old recounted moments of betrayal from within the squad.
“I had a girlfriend who used to visit me at camp,” he said. “Next thing I knew, she was with Mohammed Camara. We even went to the police over it, but I was advised to resolve it peacefully.”

The drama didn’t end there. Blay revealed that he later introduced another woman to striker Kwame Opoku, only for Opoku to allegedly steal her away.
“I brought her around, and Kwame started talking to her. Before I knew it, she was his,” Blay said.

He confronted Opoku, who denied the allegations, but the matter was serious enough that both Coach Ogum and his successor, Coach Zito, had to intervene and settle the dispute—twice.
“What Kwame Opoku did really hurt me,” Blay confessed.

His revelations offer a rare glimpse into the personal tensions and fractured relationships behind the scenes at Kotoko—issues that may have influenced his early exit from the club.
