GHANA STANDARDS AUTHORITY – KUMASI OFFICE

GSA KUMASI OFFICE COMMENDS CERTIFIED BUSINESSES AND URGES COMPANIES TO REGULARISE COMPLIANCE AHEAD OF CHRISTMAS

The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Kumasi Office, wishes to take this opportunity to acknowledge and commend all companies within the Ashanti Region that have successfully gone through the Authority’s Product Certification Process and obtained the necessary certification for their products.

The Authority appreciates the commitment demonstrated by these companies towards quality, consumer protection, and compliance with applicable Ghana Standards.

CALL ON COMPANIES SERVED WITH PENALTY NOTICES

The GSA Kumasi Office also wishes to remind companies that have recently been served with penalty notices to urgently follow up with the Office before the deadlines stated in their respective notices.

The Authority has deliberately chosen not to publicly name the affected companies at this stage because our primary objective is to promote trade, support businesses, and help companies regularise their operations through the appropriate certification and compliance processes.

We therefore encourage all affected companies to take advantage of the opportunity to engage the Authority and resolve their compliance issues before the expiry of the stated deadlines.

Failure to respond within the stipulated period may result in further regulatory action, including the possible public naming of businesses that remain non-compliant.

NOTICE TO ALL FOOD AND NON-FOOD BUSINESSES

The GSA Kumasi Office further calls on all businesses dealing in food and non-food products that have not yet regularised their certification and standards compliance status to visit the Office for guidance and assistance.

Businesses are encouraged to begin the certification process early rather than wait until enforcement activities commence.

With the Christmas and end-of-year festivities approaching, the Authority will intensify its compliance monitoring, market surveillance, and enforcement activities to ensure that products placed on the market meet the required standards and that consumers are adequately protected.

THE AUTHORITY’S MESSAGE TO BUSINESSES

The GSA Kumasi Office remains committed to working with industry and other stakeholders to promote quality, facilitate fair trade, protect consumers, and create an enabling environment for businesses to grow.

The Authority’s message is simple: We entreat all companies to regularise their operations in line with applicable standards in order to protect consumers, build confidence, and grow their businesses.

THE AUTHORITY’S MESSAGE TO CONSUMERS

The Authority also wishes to encourage consumers to patronise certified products that meet the required Ghana Standards.

Product certification by the Ghana Standards Authority provides third-party attestation that a product has been assessed against applicable standards and requirements.

The Authority wishes to assure the general public that, in the months ahead, the Kumasi Office’s social media platforms will be made available for the publication of lists of certified products currently processed and certified through the Kumasi Office, as appropriate.

In subsequent press releases, details of certified products and companies will also be published to assist consumers in making informed purchasing decisions.

The Ghana Standards Authority remains committed to protecting consumers and ensuring that only products that meet the required standards are placed on the market.
