The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has confiscated more than 5,000 packs of baby diapers that were not approved for sale, following an enforcement exercise in the Tamale Metropolis aimed at safeguarding public health.

The operation is part of ongoing market surveillance efforts by the Authority to remove unregistered and potentially unsafe products from circulation, especially those intended for infants and young children.

FDA officials inspected selected shops and market centres across the metropolis, checking various diaper brands for registration, proper labelling, and compliance with national safety regulations.

During the exercise, several products were found to be unregistered, improperly labelled, or lacking FDA approval, raising serious concerns about their safety for use.

The Authority has indicated that it will continue to intensify monitoring and enforcement to ensure that only approved and safe products are available to consumers on the market.
