The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that it will cover the full medical costs for Black Stars midfielder Francis Abu after he sustained a serious injury while representing the national team.

GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum confirmed that the decision was made following Abu’s ankle injury suffered during Ghana’s Kirin Cup fixture last Friday in Nagoya, Japan.

The Toulouse FC midfielder fractured his ankle during the match and had to be stretchered off the field in clear discomfort. He received immediate medical care before being transported to Toyota Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

Abu later underwent a successful surgery to repair the injury, with doctors reporting no complications. The GFA shared an official update after the operation, assuring fans that the player was in stable condition and receiving the best possible medical support.
