Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has accused the government of using the recent arrests of New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters to divert public attention from what he described as poor governance and unfulfilled promises.
According to him, many of the promises made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2024 election campaign have not been fulfilled, prompting the government to shift focus through the arrest of opposition members.

“They are arresting NPP members to create distractions so that the real issues affecting Ghanaians will not be discussed,” he alleged.
Speaking to the media during a Minority Caucus workshop in Accra ahead of Parliament’s resumption, Annoh-Dompreh criticised the Mahama administration’s handling of the economy and agriculture sector.
He claimed that no government in over a century had reduced cocoa prices in Ghana as the current administration has allegedly done.
The Nsawam-Adoagyiri legislator also raised concerns about maize farmers whose produce, he said, is going to waste due to a lack of buyers.
“Where is the National Buffer Stock Company?” he questioned.
Annoh-Dompreh further accused the government of incompetence, expressing disappointment in President Mahama’s leadership style.
He called on NPP supporters to remain united and work towards reclaiming power in the 2028 general elections.
According to him, the recent arrests of NPP members are rather energising and strengthening the party’s mobilisation efforts.
He also criticised the government’s handling of illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, claiming that forest reserves and water bodies continue to suffer destruction under the current administration.
