Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has cautioned party members against using his name to intimidate or remove Members of Parliament who did not support his candidacy during the party’s presidential primaries.
He stressed that such conduct undermines party unity and must not be tolerated.

According to him, he envisions a united NPP without factions, including divisions linked to figures such as Kennedy Agyapong, Bryan Acheampong, and Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum. He noted that unity remains essential if the party is to return to power from the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration led by President John Mahama.
Dr Bawumia also urged NPP MPs to be confident and well-prepared when speaking in Parliament, encouraging them to support their arguments with facts and use parliamentary debates to challenge what he described as misinformation from the government.
He said such performance would demonstrate to Ghanaians that the NPP is ready to govern again when the next election cycle arrives.
The flagbearer further encouraged party members and MPs to remain focused on securing electoral victory and to consistently highlight the party’s achievements and vision for national development ahead of the 2028 elections.
