National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has urged authorities to launch comprehensive investigations into recent fire outbreaks at state institutions, cautioning that the incidents may not be accidental but could involve deliberate sabotage.

Speaking to party supporters and residents in the Bolgatanga East Constituency as part of his nationwide “Thank You” tour, he raised concerns about the timing and repeated nature of the incidents.

According to him, every fire outbreak at a state facility must be thoroughly examined to determine whether sabotage is involved.

He also drew comparisons with similar occurrences in 2000 and 2016, suggesting a recurring pattern that he believes requires urgent national attention to safeguard public assets.

Asiedu Nketia further alleged that the incidents could be part of a calculated effort to create artificial power disruptions, commonly referred to as “dumsor,” with the intention of destabilising the country or influencing public perception.

He called on citizens to remain alert and actively report any suspicious behaviour, emphasising that protecting state property is a collective responsibility.

“We must all act as watchdogs for our national assets,” he stressed.
