  • Agalga emphasized that Ghana cannot be held responsible for citizens’ safety in foreign countries
  • He called on Ghanaians to trust the security services, highlighting President Mahama’s efforts to provide the necessary resources

The Chairman of the Defence and Interior Committee and Member of Parliament for Builsa North, Mr. James Agalga, has praised Ghana’s security agencies for their commitment and readiness in safeguarding the country and its borders.

He noted that there has been no record of terrorism or major security breaches on home soil.

Speaking in Parliament during debates on the State of the Nation Address delivered by President Mahama, Mr. Agalga addressed concerns surrounding the deaths of eight Ghanaians in Burkina Faso a few weeks ago.

He emphasized that neither the President as Commander-in-Chief nor Ghana’s security forces should be blamed for the tragedy.

“It is not internationally or globally accepted for a country to provide security for its citizens in another nation,” Agalga said. “The responsibility to protect citizens abroad rests with the country where they are located. Claims that Ghana’s security failed in this instance are unfounded.”

He further urged Ghanaians to trust the country’s security apparatus, highlighting that under President Mahama’s leadership, every effort is being made to equip and empower security agencies to ensure the safety of the nation and its people.
