Police in the Northern Region are investigating the alleged kidnapping of a 15-year-old boy, Ali Issah, in Kabulya, a community in the Nanumba South District. Reports indicate that the abductors are demanding GH¢100,000 in ransom for his release.
According to the District Chief Executive for Nanumba South, Abdul Rashid, the boy was taken during an attack carried out by a group of armed men, causing fear among residents in the area. He confirmed that the kidnappers have contacted the family and requested payment in exchange for the teenager’s freedom.

The victim’s family remains distressed as they await his safe return. She noted that some people injured during the incident are recovering, but the family is deeply worried about the boy’s safety.
Local authorities had earlier spoken with the abducted boy and advised him to remain calm while efforts are underway to secure his rescue.
Investigations suggest that the kidnappers may have originally targeted the boy’s father. However, after failing to locate him, they allegedly abducted the teenager instead. Police are currently engaging the father as part of efforts to determine the motive behind the attack and identify the suspects involved.
Although officials have not disclosed specific details, the DCE stated that investigators are working with what he described as “solid information” related to the case. Police have declined public comment, citing the sensitive nature of the ongoing investigation, but assured residents that they are actively handling the matter.
The incident has heightened concerns about a growing pattern of kidnappings in the Northern Region. Residents say several similar cases have been recorded in recent years, including an earlier kidnapping in the Wapuli area where abductors reportedly demanded GH¢100,000 before releasing the victim.
Community members are increasingly worried about the rise in such criminal activities across the region.
