Petition Seeks Disciplinary Action Against Ken Agyapong Over Alleged Anti-NPP Conduct
NPP member petitions party leadership to investigate Kennedy Agyapong over comments and actions alleged to undermine party unity ahead of the 2028 elections.

- NPP member files petition against Kennedy Agyapong.
- Petition cites anti-party comments and alleged misconduct.
- Party leadership urged to review and take action.
The petition, submitted on 18 June by Charles Opoku, Deputy National TESCON Coordinator for the New Juaben South Constituency, accuses Agyapong of consistently making public statements against fellow party members and taking positions contrary to those of the NPP.

According to Opoku, such conduct violates Article 3 of the party’s constitution, which requires members to remain loyal to the NPP and uphold its reputation. He argues that Agyapong’s actions have damaged the party’s image at a time when it is working to rebuild following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
A key issue raised in the petition is Agyapong’s recent criticism of the NPP Minority Caucus regarding the stalled Afari Military Hospital project. Opoku alleges that the former MP made inaccurate claims that weakened the party’s efforts to pressure the government to complete and operationalise the facility.
The petition also expresses concern about “The Base,” a group that emerged after the NPP’s presidential primaries. Opoku contends that the group’s activities outside established party structures have created unease among grassroots supporters and could weaken the authority of recognised party institutions.
Another concern highlighted in the petition relates to media comments in which Agyapong reportedly threatened to release confidential party documents. Opoku further claims that Agyapong has publicly stated his intention to criticise the NPP in 2027 and has indicated that he would not campaign for the party ahead of the 2028 elections.
The petitioner argues that such statements have caused anxiety among party members and supporters across the country. He maintains that any information concerning alleged wrongdoing, misconduct, or corruption within the party should be reported through the appropriate party channels or relevant state institutions rather than being used as public threats.
Opoku attached copies of interviews and media reports to support his claims and called on the National Executive Committee and other relevant party bodies to review the evidence and take appropriate action.
He said the petition was submitted in the interest of strengthening party unity and ensuring the NPP’s long-term success as it prepares for the 2028 elections.
