Nabdam Police Arrest 14 Over Suspected ‘Wee’ Cultivation and Distribution

NABDAM, UPPER EAST REGION – Police in the Upper East Region have arrested 14 people suspected of cultivating and distributing narcotic drugs, popularly known as “wee”, at Daliga in the Nabdam District.

The suspects were arrested on Sunday, August 16, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) in collaboration with the newly established Black Cobra Team.

The suspects have been identified by the police as Alex Nyaaba, 63; Charles Kolog Dombil, 30; Jenifer Ziimi, 30; Ziimi Pandan, 45; Tobire Naab, 70; Yinteng James, 59; Sandenab Peelim, 35; Abane Zamgbeog, 48; Borimi Nahou, 29; Tobil Wandabil, 27; Furimi Nabdok, 29; Nahou Dogobila, 41; Gurimi Teng, 26; and Gurimi Kugeri, 20.

Suspected Narcotics Found in Millet and Maize Sacks

A statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Upper East Regional Police Command and signed by the unit’s Chief Inspector, Abdul-Raman Sumaila, said the operation resulted in the discovery of a large quantity of suspected narcotic drugs concealed in sacks of millet and maize.

According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspected Indian hemp was being cultivated alongside millet and maize to conceal the farms and evade detection.

The police also alleged that the suspects were major suppliers of narcotic drugs to several drug peddlers operating across the Upper East Region.

Suspects to Face Court

The arrests form part of efforts by the Upper East Regional Police Command to disrupt the cultivation, distribution and supply networks responsible for the circulation of narcotic drugs in the region.

The police said the suspects remain in custody and will be put before the court to face the law.

The Command has also urged members of the public to provide information on activities suspected to be connected to the cultivation and distribution of narcotic drugs to support ongoing efforts to combat the menace.
