New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has charged the party’s newly elected regional executives to focus on rebuilding the party and securing victory in the 2028 general elections.

Speaking on Sunday, August 16, while addressing newly elected Greater Accra Regional executives, Dr Bawumia said the party’s ultimate objective is to regain political power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2028.

He described the ongoing internal reorganisation of the NPP as a crucial step towards strengthening the party’s structures and preparing it for the next general election.

Dr Bawumia urged the newly elected executives to see their positions as a responsibility rather than simply a political achievement, stressing that there is significant work ahead.

He noted that the recent regional elections form part of a broader reorganisation process that has already included polling station, electoral area and constituency elections.

According to him, the process will be completed with the party’s national elections scheduled for October 10, after which the NPP will have a stronger organisational structure to drive its campaign towards the 2028 election.

“The goal for all of us is to win the 2028 election. This is just a stepping stone towards winning 2028,” Dr Bawumia said.

He encouraged the regional executives to work together, strengthen the party at all levels and remain focused on the task of returning the NPP to power.
