  • High Court awaits Supreme Court’s injunction ruling
  • Case remains on hold during the legal vacation

The High Court has adjourned the trial involving Kwabena Adu-Boahene and his wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng, to August 25, 2026, pending a decision by the Supreme Court on an application seeking to stop the proceedings during the legal vacation.

The case was expected to continue before the vacation court, but the judge ruled that he could not proceed while the injunction application remained pending before the Supreme Court.

The application was filed by Ofoase/Ayirebi MP Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and is scheduled for hearing on August 20, 2026.

Defence counsel had initially asked the High Court to adjourn the case until the next legal term, citing professional commitments of lead counsel Samuel Atta Akyea during the legal vacation.

The prosecution opposed the request, arguing that simply filing an injunction application does not stop the High Court from exercising its jurisdiction unless the Supreme Court has actually issued an order restraining the proceedings.

However, the High Court judge held that because the Supreme Court application specifically seeks to prevent the High Court from continuing the trial during the legal vacation, it was appropriate to await the Supreme Court’s decision.

The court therefore adjourned the matter to August 25 at 9:30 a.m., by which time the Supreme Court is expected to have ruled on the injunction application.
