GES Warns Public Against Fake BECE School Selection Announcement
The Ghana Education Service has urged parents, candidates, and the public to disregard a fake notice circulating online about the 2026 BECE school selection exercise

- GES has denied claims that 2026 BECE school selection has started
- The Service says the viral notice is fake and not from any official channel
- Public urged to ignore the message and avoid sharing personal information
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed as false a widely circulated notice claiming that the 2026 BECE school selection exercise began on June 15, 2026.
In a statement issued on June 14, GES clarified that it has not announced the commencement of the school selection process and urged candidates, parents, teachers, and the general public to disregard the misleading information.
The Service explained that the fake notice falsely instructed BECE candidates to select and submit five preferred schools ahead of the placement process, adding that there was no official deadline for submissions.
It further noted that the message directed users to an unofficial WhatsApp line for assistance, warning that such instructions did not originate from GES.

GES stressed that all official updates on school selection and placement would be communicated only through its authorised platforms and recognised channels.
The Service also cautioned the public against sharing personal information or engaging with individuals behind the false announcement, warning that such scams could expose people to fraud and exploitation.

It urged stakeholders to verify all education-related information before acting on it and to rely strictly on official government sources.
GES reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and credible placement process, assuring that any genuine updates on the 2026 school selection exercise would be communicated formally.
