The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has lauded Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Ashanti Regional Police Command, and the IGP’s Special Operations Team (SOT) for their relentless efforts in curbing crime and safeguarding public safety.
The King expressed his appreciation on Wednesday, July 22, during a courtesy call at the Manhyia Palace by the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Commissioner of Police (COP) Arthur Osei Akoto, alongside the Director of the IGP’s Special Operations Team, Superintendent Augustine Dawson-Ahmoah, and members of his leadership unit.
During the audience, COP Akoto formally introduced the SOT to the Asantehene, outlining that the specialized unit was established by the IGP to sharpen intelligence-led policing, execute targeted anti-crime sweeps, and bolster nationwide security.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II noted that the team’s visible, sustained presence has noticeably improved security across the Ashanti Region, pointing to a drop in armed robbery, drug trafficking, and human trafficking offenses.
“Policing is a noble profession that demands dedication, sacrifice, and integrity. You must remain disciplined and professional while prioritizing your personal safety in the line of duty,” the Asantehene charged the officers.
In response, Superintendent Dawson-Ahmoah thanked the King for his royal endorsement and reaffirmed the SOT’s dedication to keeping communities safe, protecting lives and property, and maintaining law and order.
