“Ghana Must Be Re-engineered Back to Prosperity” — Ing. Kwabena Agyepong

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary and former Press Secretary to President John Agyekum Kufuor, Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, has called for a complete national reset, urging Ghanaians to embrace integrity, discipline and purposeful leadership to restore the country’s prosperity.

Delivering the keynote address at the 10th Anniversary Celebration of MC-Bauchemie Ghana Limited at the Labadi Beach Hotel under the theme, “The Next Decade – Purpose in Motion,” Ing. Agyepong declared that “Ghana must be re-engineered back to prosperity,” stressing that the country’s challenges require more than political rhetoric.

According to him, rebuilding Ghana means restoring the nation’s values, strengthening institutions, modernising infrastructure, enforcing the rule of law, and rebuilding public confidence in leadership.

“When I say Ghana must be re-engineered back to prosperity, I mean more than politics. I mean the rebuilding of our national life, our values, our cities, our institutions, our infrastructure, and our collective confidence in the future,” he stated.

The engineer and former Executive Director of the Ghana Institution of Engineering said Ghana’s construction industry reflects the country’s wider governance challenges, describing the sector as one battling not only poor workmanship and declining standards but also a crisis of integrity, accountability, planning and value for money.

He said Ghana’s development has been undermined by poor sanitation, illegal mining (galamsey), unplanned urbanisation, youth unemployment and weak enforcement of planning regulations, warning that these problems continue to threaten sustainable national growth.

Ing. Agyepong noted that the country can overcome these setbacks only through courageous leadership, professional excellence and a renewed commitment to national service.

He called on political leaders to return to the core principles of service, sacrifice and stewardship, insisting that Ghana urgently needs leaders with “clean hands, courageous hearts and clear minds” who are prepared to solve problems with honesty and competence.

The 2028 NPP Presidential Candidate aspirant also advocated strict enforcement of spatial planning laws, comprehensive urban regeneration and rural renewal, arguing that orderly communities are fundamental to economic development and improved living conditions.

Addressing engineers and stakeholders in the built environment, he urged them to uphold the highest professional standards and embrace modern construction technologies capable of producing durable, climate-resilient infrastructure.

He praised MC-Bauchemie Ghana Limited for contributing to improved construction standards over the past decade and encouraged the company to continue championing quality, innovation and accountability in Ghana’s construction industry.

Ing. Agyepong concluded by urging Ghanaians to reject mediocrity and corruption and instead work collectively to build a nation founded on integrity, discipline and excellence.

“Let us build a Ghana engineered for prosperity—a Ghana strong enough for today and worthy enough for generations yet unborn,” he said.
