Concerned Drivers Association appeals for calm as government considers measures to ease fuel burden

- Drivers urge operators not to increase fares amid expected fuel tax relief
- Government engaged over possible reduction in fuel-related taxes
- Transport Minister denies reports of Voxy vehicle ban
The Concerned Drivers Association has called on commercial transport operators across the country to refrain from increasing transport fares as government prepares to announce its next fuel pricing decision.
Speaking at a press conference, the Association’s National Chairman, William Osei, said leadership of various transport unions is currently in discussions with government aimed at reducing the financial pressure on both drivers and passengers caused by rising fuel costs.
He expressed hope that government will introduce cuts to certain fuel-related taxes, which could bring some relief to the transport sector if implemented.
Mr. Osei also addressed circulating concerns about a possible ban on Toyota Voxy vehicles for commercial transport use. He clarified that the Association had engaged the Transport Minister, Joseph Nikpe Bukari, who assured them that no such directive had been issued.
According to him, the Minister further indicated that his office has not received any official report supporting claims of a ban on Voxy vehicles.
