The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 34-year-old woman, Abigail Cheetham, and her son, Prince, in connection with the alleged murder of her husband and the attempted murder of their 15-year-old son at Nsawam-Aduakrom in the Eastern Region.
The deceased, identified as 36-year-old Nicholas Cheetham, a land agent, was reportedly killed at the family home, while his teenage son, Richmond, survived the attack with severe injuries.
According to police sources, the incident occurred on Saturday, March 7, 2026, after a domestic dispute allegedly stemming from revelations that the deceased had fathered a child outside the marriage.
Investigations suggest that although the matter was initially settled after Nicholas apologised and compensated his wife, Abigail allegedly later planned his killing.

Police say Nicholas had entrusted GH¢30,000 to his wife for safekeeping. She is alleged to have informed her son about the money and conspired with him to execute the attack, promising him a share of the funds.
Reports indicate that Prince allegedly recruited an accomplice to carry out the act in exchange for GH¢8,000, which was reportedly taken from the money given by the deceased.
That night, Abigail is said to have engaged her husband in sexual intercourse to make him sleep deeply before allegedly calling Prince and his accomplice into the bedroom to attack him.
After killing Nicholas, the suspects allegedly attempted to dispose of his body. However, the victim’s 15-year-old son reportedly witnessed part of the incident, including attempts to conceal the body.
When the attackers realized he had seen them, they allegedly turned on him, assaulting him severely and leaving him for dead.
Richmond, however, regained consciousness and managed to escape to a neighbour’s house, where he reported the incident.
Residents alerted the police, leading to the arrest of Abigail Cheetham and her son, Prince. A third suspect is reportedly being pursued.
The Eastern Regional Police Command confirmed the arrests, stating that investigations are ongoing while the injured teenager receives medical treatment.
