President John Dramani Mahama has joined several African Heads of State and global partners in Nairobi, Kenya, for the Africa Forward Summit, a major France-Africa partnership meeting focused on sustainable development, economic resilience, and global cooperation.

The summit, organised by French President Emmanuel Macron, has brought together African leaders, international institutions, and global business executives to strengthen collaboration on key development priorities across the continent, according to a statement from the Presidency.

President Mahama, in his role as African Union Champion for African Financial Institutions, is expected to take part in a high-level panel discussion on green industrialisation and energy transition scheduled for Tuesday. The dialogue will explore how Africa can accelerate industrial growth while addressing climate change and the global shift toward clean energy.

He is also expected to attend a working lunch focused on reforms to the international financial system, aimed at improving access to sustainable financing for African nations and advocating for a more responsive global financial architecture.

As part of the summit engagements, President Mahama will co-chair a roundtable on health under the theme “Rethinking global health and building resilient national health systems.” The initiative aligns with the Accra Reset agenda, which seeks to strengthen healthcare systems and improve preparedness for future global health emergencies.

On the sidelines of the summit, the President is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, and IFAD President Alvaro Lario, focusing on economic stability, food security, and enhanced global cooperation involving Ghana and Africa.
