Police in Tamale in the Northern Region have launched investigations into an alleged assault, illegal filming, and attempted blackmail involving a young woman whose nude video has since been circulated online.
According to the victim’s account, she was in a vehicle with a man when two unidentified men approached them. It remains unclear whether any sexual activity was taking place at the time of the incident.
She alleged that the men forcefully pulled her out of the vehicle while she was naked, physically assaulted her, and recorded the incident despite her pleas for them to stop.
The victim further claimed that the man she was with exited the vehicle, engaged the suspects in conversation, and later left the scene. She suspects he may have paid them to avoid having his own footage released.
“I believe he gave them something [money] so they didn’t release his video and they left him,” she said.
She also alleged that one of the suspects later contacted her phone, demanding sex in exchange for deleting the video, and threatened to publish it if she refused.
According to her, she later agreed to meet the suspect but managed to escape after he allegedly attempted to sexually assault her.
The video was subsequently circulated on social media.
The Ghana Police Service has since begun investigations and deployed officers to track down and arrest those involved.
Meanwhile, reports indicate the victim allegedly attempted to take her own life following the incident and its public exposure.
