The Chief of Staff has issued a strong charge to members of the Ministerial Oversight Committee supervising Ghana’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, urging them to work with urgency, discipline, and a strong sense of national duty as preparations intensify.
Speaking at the committee’s inauguration on Wednesday, November 26, he stressed that the World Cup journey goes far beyond match day, spanning the four years before the tournament and the four years after.

He warned that Ghana cannot afford disjointed planning or outdated approaches.
“The road to 2026 begins now. This committee must lead with speed, accountability, and national consciousness. The era of scattered effort is over. We cannot approach 2026 with the mindset of 2010 or 2014. What must be corrected should be corrected, what must be built must be built — and we must act with urgency,” he declared.
He further urged the committee to project Ghana with discipline and pride, insisting that the country’s presence at the tournament must reflect organised planning, strategic focus, and national excellence worthy of the Black Stars.

The Oversight Committee is made up of senior government officials and key stakeholders, including Stan Xoese Dogbe from the Office of the President, Kofi Adams from the Sports Ministry, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa from Foreign Affairs, George Opare Addo from Youth Development, Yusif Jajah (Deputy Minister for Tourism and Culture), Ampem Nyarkoh (Deputy Finance Minister), Kurt Okraku of the Ghana Football Association, Elizabeth Yankah from National Security, football legend Abedi Pele, and Wilhelmina Asamoah, Chief Director at the Sports Ministry. One additional member is yet to be announced.
The committee is expected to coordinate Ghana’s technical, logistical, security, diplomatic, and commercial preparations ahead of the tournament, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
