Ghanaian rapper Black Sherif has revealed that he submitted entries for two categories at the 66th Grammy Awards, though he did not secure a nomination.
Black Sherif said he filed for Best African Music Performance and Best Global Album. Despite not being nominated, the musician expressed that he remains unfazed.
“I would have been happy if they nominated me, but it doesn’t bother me at all,” he stated.
The rapper also expressed confidence in winning Artiste of the Year at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, asking the hosts, “We deserve it. What do you think?”
Black Sherif’s debut album, Iron Boy, released on April 3, 2025, has become one of Ghana’s most streamed projects of the year. On Spotify, it debuted at number 6 on the UK Top Debuted Albums chart and broke the record for the highest first-day streams for a Ghanaian album, totaling 2 million streams. To date, it has amassed over 103.3 million streams, making it the most streamed Ghanaian album of 2025.
On Apple Music, Iron Boy spent 158 days at number one on the Ghana Top Albums chart, with five tracks reaching the top spot on the Apple Music Ghana Top 100. The single Sacrifice dominated the chart for 23 consecutive weeks.
Meanwhile, on Audiomack, Black Sherif surpassed 1 billion career streams, solidifying his status as the most streamed Ghanaian artist on the platform.
The success of Iron Boy reflects Black Sherif’s rise as a major force in Ghanaian music, known for his unique fusion of storytelling, street poetry, and personal narratives.
