Apostle Dadzie Urges Churches to Allow Financially Stable Men to Take Two Wives
Apostle Dadzie urges church leaders to permit financially stable men to take two wives to help reduce the number of unmarried women in Ghana.
- Calls for financially stable men to be allowed to marry two wives to address unmarried women issue.
- Stresses polygamy is not a sin if it helps prevent marriage collapse.
- Warns church leaders to find solutions to rising marital challenges among Ghanaian women.
The General Overseer of the Leader’s Light International Church, Apostle Dr. Samuel Kofi Dadzie, has called on church leaders to permit financially stable men in their congregations to marry two wives, arguing that it could help address the growing number of unmarried women in Ghana.
Apostle Dadzie highlighted that in nearly every church in the country, many young women pray for husbands but struggle to find suitable partners. He estimates that between 15,000 and 200,000 women aged 25 to 40 are actively seeking marriage but remain unsuccessful.
“This challenge of finding a husband among women in Ghana could be alleviated if churches amended their doctrines to allow men who are financially stable to take a second wife,” he suggested. He emphasized that church leadership must apply wisdom and knowledge to tackle this issue, citing the biblical principle that “whatever we bind on earth will be bound in heaven.”
Apostle Dadzie clarified that polygamy is not a sin before God, provided it is done responsibly and ensures other women also have the opportunity to marry, thus preventing the collapse of existing marriages. He noted that women outnumber men in the country, and many are praying for husbands, sometimes leading to marriages breaking down or individuals forcibly pursuing married men.
He urged church leaders to find lasting solutions so that more Ghanaian women can get married. He also questioned biblical compliance regarding remarriage after divorce, challenging whether a man of God who marries, divorces, and remarries is serving God and the nation as effectively as a man who responsibly marries two wives.
