Stay Vigilant Against Online Scams and Phishing Attacks

Story Highlights
  • Never share your PIN, password, or card details through links or social media messages.
  • Avoid clicking suspicious links sent via WhatsApp, SMS, or email.
  • Report suspected scams immediately to MTN Ghana or the Police.

Accra, May 11, 2026 – MTN Ghana is urging all customers to stay vigilant against scams and phishing attempts by avoiding suspicious links sent through WhatsApp, SMS, email, or unfamiliar websites.

Cybercriminals often disguise themselves as trusted individuals or organizations—such as family members, banks, government institutions, or companies—to trick people into revealing personal information. These fraudulent messages may ask you to “verify your account,” “claim a reward,” or “update your details.”

To help keep your information secure, please follow these important safety tips:

  • Think Before You Click: Do not click on links from unknown numbers or unverified sources.
  • Watch Out for Pressure Tactics: Be cautious of messages that create panic, promise unbelievable rewards, or demand urgent action.
  • Check Website Security: Before entering sensitive information online, ensure the website address begins with https:// and displays a secure padlock icon.
  • Verify Independently: Confirm suspicious requests directly through official channels rather than replying to the message or using contact details provided in it.
  • Avoid “Too Good to Be True” Offers: Be skeptical of links promising money, prizes, discounts, or urgent deals.
  • Use Official Platforms: Access services only through official apps or trusted websites.
  • Report Suspicious Activity: If you suspect fraud or receive a suspicious message, report it immediately to MTN Ghana or the relevant authorities.

Please remember: MTN Ghana will never request your password, PIN, or full card details through text messages, links, or social media.

If you believe your personal information has been compromised or you encounter a suspicious link, contact MTN Ghana Customer Support on 100 or report the incident to the Police on 0800311311.

Your security remains our priority. Stay alert. Stay protected.
