Launched on August 12, 2026, at the Accra Marriott Hotel, the programme is being implemented in partnership with the Bank of Ghana and other fintech ecosystem partners.

The initiative is open to students, developers, entrepreneurs, startups and innovators across Ghana with ideas capable of addressing everyday challenges, expanding financial inclusion and supporting the growth of Ghana’s digital financial services sector.
Under the theme “Build with MoMo” and the tagline “Build the Next Wave of Fintech,” selected participants will receive access to industry experts, networks, tools and guidance to help transform their ideas into practical and commercially viable solutions.
Four Innovation Tracks
The programme will focus on four key areas:
- Everyday Payments and Financial Access
- Business and Merchant Growth Tools
- Trust, Security and Digital Identity
- Future Finance and Connected Ecosystems
Applications are free and can be submitted by individuals or teams. The deadline is September 30, 2026.

How to Apply
Interested applicants can apply through the MoMo App by opening or downloading the app, logging in with their MoMo number and PIN or using biometrics, and selecting the MoMo Fintech Lab banner on the home page.
Applicants will then complete the application form, provide details about their team or individual project, select an innovation track, attach any required supporting information and submit their application before the deadline.
Speaking at the launch, the Chief Executive Officer of MobileMoney Fintech LTD, Shaibu Haruna, said the initiative seeks to strengthen Ghana’s fintech talent pipeline and provide innovators with a platform to develop solutions that address real-world challenges.
Mr. Owureku Asare, Head of the FinTech and Innovation Office at the Bank of Ghana, emphasised the importance of collaboration, responsible innovation and regulatory partnerships in building a trusted and inclusive digital financial ecosystem.
The Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, urged Ghanaian innovators to use the platform to develop homegrown fintech solutions capable of competing across Africa and the global digital economy.
He said Ghana possesses the talent, creativity and ideas needed to shape its own digital future and reduce reliance on solutions developed elsewhere.
Up to GH¢100,000 in Prizes
The final 12 entries selected for the Fintech Lab will receive a comprehensive prize and support package, including cash awards of up to GH¢100,000, digital devices, a bootcamp, hackathon, mentorship, incubation support and industry exposure.
Finalists will also participate in a National Demo Day, where they will have the opportunity to pitch their solutions to industry stakeholders.
MobileMoney Fintech LTD is encouraging innovators nationwide to take advantage of the programme to develop practical financial technology solutions that can improve lives, support businesses and contribute to Ghana’s digital economy.
The initiative is supported by ecosystem partners and sponsors including Hubtel, APPSN Mobile, Zenith Bank, Korba, Blue Penguin and Jumo, among others.
