  • Several players are recalled after injury recoveries.

Carlos Queiroz has named a strong 28-man squad for Ghana national football team’s World Cup preparations, recalling key players returning from injury and extended absences, including Ernest Nuamah, Abdul Mumin and Alidu Seidu.

The squad announcement also marks the return of Baba Rahman, who rejoins the national team after a self-imposed absence that followed criticism from fans after Ghana’s previous poor performances.

Rahman, now playing for Greek club PAOK, has regained form and confidence after an impressive season featuring 35 appearances, three goals and three assists, earning him a recall as Ghana builds toward its World Cup campaign.

Queiroz’s selection also includes several players returning from long-term injuries. Nuamah returns after recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury that sidelined him for nearly a year, while Mumin also returns after a lengthy spell out with a similar setback.

Defenders Seidu and midfielder Augustine Boakye have also worked their way back into contention following injury-hit seasons in Europe, strengthening Ghana’s squad depth ahead of the tournament.

The team is currently in camp in Cardiff, Wales, where they will face the Welsh national team in a friendly on June 2 as part of preparations for the World Cup in North America.

Ghana has been drawn into Group L, where they will face Panama national football team, England national football team and Croatia national football team in what is expected to be a challenging group stage campaign.

The squad also features experienced players such as Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew and Inaki Williams, alongside rising talents including Antoine Semenyo, who has enjoyed a standout season at club level.

Queiroz has also introduced youth prospects into the squad, including Ajax defender Paul Reverson, as part of a long-term rebuilding strategy focused on athleticism, depth and transition play.

Ghana will begin their World Cup journey against Panama in Toronto before facing England in Boston and Croatia in Philadelphia, fixtures that will test the team’s balance of experience and returning talent.
