‘We Will Never, Ever Forget’ — Trump Says as US Marks 25th Anniversary of 9/11
President Donald Trump honours nearly 3,000 victims of the 9/11 attacks, pledging that America will “never, ever forget” as the nation marks 25 years since the tragedy.

US President Donald Trump has vowed that America will “never, ever forget” the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks as the country marked the 25th anniversary of one of the darkest days in its history.
Trump made the remarks on Friday during a solemn ceremony at the Pentagon, where 184 people were killed when American Airlines Flight 77 was hijacked and crashed into the building on September 11, 2001.
The president and First Lady Melania Trump listened as the names of the 184 victims were read aloud, with a bell tolling after each name.
Trump also recalled the stories of several victims before delivering a message of remembrance.
“We will never, ever forget,” Trump said. “That’s why we fight today. We don’t have a choice.”
The ceremony came 25 years after al-Qaida militants hijacked four commercial aircraft and carried out coordinated attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon and a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, killing nearly 3,000 people.
‘We Were All New Yorkers’
Trump reflected on the sense of unity that swept across the United States in the aftermath of the attacks.
“In those harrowing days after the attacks, we saw the authentic spirit of our nation,” he said. “We were all New Yorkers that day. Every one of us. We were all New Yorkers. We were all family.”
The president, who is originally from New York, has previously spoken about his memories of the attacks and their impact on the city.
American Flag Unfurled at Pentagon
Earlier in the day, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and senior military officials stood outside the Pentagon as a giant American flag was unfurled on the building struck by one of the hijacked planes a quarter-century ago.
Friday marked the second consecutive year Trump has chosen the Pentagon as the location for his 9/11 anniversary observance.
Meanwhile, Vice President JD Vance attended the memorial ceremony in New York alongside former presidents, while other senior administration officials participated in commemorations at the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Remembering Nearly 3,000 Victims
Across the United States, families of victims, survivors, first responders and members of the public gathered to remember those who lost their lives.
In New York, relatives read the names of victims at the National September 11 Memorial at Ground Zero, while ceremonies were also held in Pennsylvania and other locations.
The attacks not only claimed nearly 3,000 lives but also fundamentally reshaped US foreign policy, national security and the country’s approach to terrorism.
Twenty-five years later, the memories of September 11 remain deeply etched in the lives of millions of Americans.
For the nation, Friday’s commemorations served as both a tribute to those who died and a reminder of the enduring impact of the attacks.
