Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration), Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, has led presidential staffers and senior advisers at the Office of the President in presenting a cheque worth GH₵6.1 million to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (Mahama Cares).
The donation represents six months of President John Dramani Mahama’s salary, along with one month’s salary contributions from presidential staffers and appointees.

Speaking on behalf of the Chief of Staff during the presentation ceremony at Jubilee House, Nana Oye described the contribution as a reflection of the government’s Reset Agenda and a demonstration of leadership through service and sacrifice.
She praised the Ghana Medical Trust Fund for its role in supporting patients and saving lives, while urging individuals and corporate organisations to continue supporting the initiative.
According to Nana Oye, President Mahama set the tone for the fundraising effort by committing six months of his salary as seed funding and encouraging government appointees and staffers to make similar contributions.
She disclosed that the GH₵6.1 million donation was raised through contributions from the President, presidential appointees, and staff members.
“Leadership is not a title; it is a disposition. It is the willingness to put your hand in your pocket when the country needs you. It is the recognition that public service is, at its core, about giving and not receiving,” she stated.
Nana Oye emphasized that the funds represented genuine sacrifices by public servants committed to supporting a national cause aimed at reducing the financial burden on vulnerable families and patients requiring expensive medical treatment.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Administrator Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku said the fund’s long-term vision is to strengthen specialist healthcare delivery across the country.
She noted that the initiative aims to ensure that every region in Ghana has at least ten medical specialists capable of providing advanced care for people living with chronic diseases.
Nana Oye described the donation as evidence of the government’s commitment to transforming compassion into action.
“We are walking the talk. Together, we are the Reset Agenda in action,” she said.
The event was attended by Presidential Adviser and Special Aide Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Legal Counsel to the President Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew-Appiah Oppong, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim, Presidential Adviser Nana Yaa Jantuah, presidential staffers, stakeholders, and invited guests.
