- Offinso North DCE Caesar Ofosu Acheampong says MMDCEs under President Mahama are performing better and more committed
- He credits increased funding and support from government for improving development delivery at the district level
- He assures that abandoned projects in Offinso North will be completed or upgraded under the “resetting agenda.”
The District Chief Executive for Offinso North, Caesar Ofosu Acheampong, says Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) under President John Dramani Mahama are performing better and working with greater commitment than those in the previous administration.
Speaking in an interview with Kwame Tanko on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show on Lawson TV/Radio, Mr. Acheampong said his administration has focused on development delivery since he assumed office on May 16, adding that he is now approaching his first year in office.
He noted that many MMDCEs entered office with prior experience in local governance, which has helped them understand the demands of their roles and respond more effectively to community expectations.
According to him, local government leadership is highly demanding, especially due to political pressure and high public expectations.
“The system is very tough because of expectations. If you fail to deliver, it puts you in danger politically,” he explained.
Despite the challenges, he insisted that the current leadership is making progress.
“In all, if we compare ourselves to MMDCEs of the previous administration, we are all doing our best. We are hungry for success, and our records will show what we are doing,” he said.
Mr. Acheampong also praised President Mahama for providing financial support to MMDCEs to drive development at the district level, describing him as a leader who understands the needs of local governance.
He further indicated that abandoned projects within the Offinso North District will not be left to decay. Instead, they will be revisited and improved as part of the government’s broader development agenda.
“Abandoned projects from the previous administration will not be neglected. We will give them a facelift because they are part of the resetting agenda,” he stated.
