- Dispute reportedly started over hostel rules and entry of town residents
- Other students reportedly joined and pelted stones at the teacher, injuring him
A tense and troubling incident at Nhyinahini Catholic Senior High School has sparked widespread concern after a violent altercation between a male teacher and a female student surfaced online, drawing attention from education authorities and law enforcement.
According to Superintendent Francis Oppong Agyare, the District Police Commander for Nyinahini, who spoke on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show with Kwame Tanko, the teacher involved has been arrested and is currently in police custody as investigations continue.

He explained that the teacher, who also serves as a caretaker of the school’s hostel, had been enforcing strict rules aimed at restricting movement in and out of the facility. His measures reportedly included preventing students from leaving the hostel freely and also stopping town residents from entering the premises.
However, tensions escalated after students allegedly allowed some residents into the hostel to fetch water from a reserved supply meant for the students. The teacher, angered by the development, confronted the students.

Supt. Agyare said during the confrontation, the student reportedly insulted him, and the situation quickly spiraled out of control. “The teacher reacted angrily, and what began as a verbal exchange escalated into a physical altercation.”
The situation further deteriorated when some male students allegedly pelted stones at the teacher, leaving him injured. He was subsequently rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Supt. Agyare confirmed that the teacher remains under arrest and will be processed for court once he recovers, depending on the outcome of ongoing investigations. “If it is subject for prosecution, he will be prosecuted,” he indicated.
Meanwhile, school authorities have been alerted, and the Regional Education Directorate has ordered a full-scale investigation into the circumstances that led to the incident, including the conduct of both the teacher and the students involved.
