A man has been arrested in southern Spain after allegedly shooting and killing his parents and injuring four other people, including two young children, authorities said.
The shooting took place late Monday night in the town of El Ejido near Almería. Police said emergency services were alerted around 23:00 local time.

According to investigators, the 25-year-old suspect opened fire during the incident, leaving two people dead — believed to be his mother and father — while four others suffered serious injuries.
Among the injured were two small children. Local media reports say one of them is the suspect’s seven-month-old son, while the second child is believed to be 18 months old. A 60-year-old man was also reportedly wounded.
The victims were taken to hospital for treatment, though authorities have not released further details about their conditions.
After the shooting, the suspect briefly fled before later surrendering himself at a nearby police station, according to Spanish news agency Europa Press.
Spain’s Guardia Civil confirmed the arrest and said an investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the attack.
Officials have not publicly identified either the suspect or the victims.
Mass shootings are uncommon in Spain. Data from Project Insight, which monitors gun violence across Europe, recorded only four such incidents in the country between 2000 and 2023.
