Ahmed Ibrahim, the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, has stressed that religious tolerance remains one of the most important pillars for sustaining peace and unity in Ghana.
According to the minister, both Christianity and Islam share common values centred on worshipping and serving God, making mutual respect and peaceful coexistence essential for national development.

Speaking during his Eid al-Adha message to Muslims across the country, Mr Ibrahim pointed to similarities in the teachings of the Bible and the Quran, particularly the story of Abraham and Prophet Ibrahim being asked to sacrifice their sons as an act of faith and obedience to God.
He explained that these shared religious principles demonstrate the close connection between the two faiths and should encourage greater understanding and tolerance among believers.

The minister further noted that Ghana’s continued peace and progress depend on tolerance across different aspects of society, including religion, culture, ethnicity, politics and economic life.
Mr Ibrahim urged Ghanaians to continue embracing unity, respect and peaceful coexistence in order to advance the country’s development agenda and preserve its reputation as a peaceful nation.
