A 60-year-old man has been arrested by police for allegedly tying his teenage son to a quad motorbike and dragging him along a tarred road at North Legon in Accra, leaving the boy with multiple injuries.
The suspect, identified as Eric Mantey, was arrested by the Madina Divisional Police Command following the disturbing incident, which reportedly occurred near the Adonai Church area on May 3, 2026.
The Ghana Police Service confirmed the arrest during a press briefing held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, by the Head of Public Affairs at the Police Headquarters, Superintendent Juliana Obeng.

The teenager sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
Speaking to journalists, Superintendent Obeng disclosed that the suspect admitted during interrogation that he acted out of anger over his son’s behaviour.
“He stated that he acted out of anger over the victim’s behaviour,” she said.
The police spokesperson further urged parents and guardians to adopt lawful and non-violent forms of discipline and encouraged the public to report child abuse cases to the appropriate authorities.
