Ghana goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has urged Ghanaians to maintain their support for the Black Stars following the team’s 2-1 defeat to Croatia in their final Group L match on Saturday, June 27, 2026, in Philadelphia.
Despite the loss, Ghana secured qualification to the Round of 32, where they are set to face Colombia on July 4.
Reacting to the result, Asare admitted the team had not planned to end the group stage with a defeat but emphasized their focus on the upcoming knockout challenge.
“It wasn’t our intention to lose this game. Anything can happen in football. We are focused on the next game, and we hope for a better outcome. All we are asking from Ghanaians is their prayers and continuous support,” he said.
Although the defeat concluded Ghana’s Group L campaign, the Black Stars progressed to the knockout stage and now turn their attention to a crucial Round of 32 clash against Colombia.
