GNFS Swiftly Responds to Diesel Tanker Crash at Asuboi
Driver blames burst tyres as GNFS confirms no injuries or fuel spillage at scene

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has responded to a road traffic accident involving a DAF fuel tanker carrying 54,000 litres of diesel at Asuboi on the Accra–Kumasi Highway.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, after the Suhum Municipal Fire Station received a distress call at about 1:42 p.m.
According to the GNFS, a team of eight firefighters was immediately dispatched three minutes later to the accident scene.
The rescue crew, led by Station Officer One (STNOI) Antwi Forson with support from Leading Fireman Nyade Gilbert Tettey, arrived at approximately 1:57 p.m.

Firefighters discovered that the tanker, bearing registration number GM 5938-21, had veered off the highway into a nearby bush but remained upright.
A thorough search conducted by emergency personnel confirmed that no one was trapped or injured in the accident.
The driver reportedly told authorities that two middle tyres of the tanker burst, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.
The Fire Service secured the area and implemented safety measures to prevent any possible danger from the diesel cargo.
Although the tanker sustained partial damage, no casualties were recorded.
The GNFS later returned to base at about 2:51 p.m. after successfully completing the operation.
