A police inspector stationed at the Asuoyeboah Police Station in Kumasi has been interdicted and remanded into custody over his alleged involvement in a robbery attack on a mobile money vendor.

The officer, identified as Inspector Bright Appiah Dankwah, was arrested by the Ashanti Regional Anti-Robbery Unit following what police described as intelligence-led operations.

According to a statement from the Ghana Police Service dated Monday, May 11, a search conducted at his residence led to the discovery of a Bruni Model 92 gas pistol, ammunition, and an amount of GHS 9,835.

The statement added that the officer has been interdicted as investigations continue into the alleged robbery incident.

Inspector Dankwah was also arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on the same day and has been remanded into police custody.

He is expected to reappear in court on May 29, 2026, while investigations continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case.
