A suspected jealous ex-boyfriend has allegedly set a house on fire at Jema following a dispute involving his former girlfriend and her new partner.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Sunday, destroying several properties, although the occupants managed to escape without injuries.

According to the victims, the suspect — who is currently on the run — had previously threatened the woman’s new boyfriend, identified only as Kojo, and warned him to end the relationship.
The woman explained that she travelled to Jema after hearing about the threats in an effort to settle the misunderstanding peacefully.
However, while she and Kojo were asleep, the suspect allegedly poured petrol around the house and set it ablaze before fleeing the area.

The victims said they noticed the strong smell of petrol moments before the fire intensified, giving them enough time to escape from the building.
Speaking in an interview the victims accused the suspect of carrying out the attack out of jealousy.

Police have yet to issue an official statement on the incident, but investigations are expected to commence.
